Time Management Skills To Grow Your Business as a Fitness Instructor

Time management, for all business owners, is about being productive while simultaneously being proactive. Doing more does not necessarily mean you’re being more productive with your time. Fitness instructors have a lot on their hands. You must be active and efficient with your time on a day-to-day basis. Considering how active you are, you may start to feel burned out from being so busy. Interacting with your community can take up a lot of your time. Whether that time is taken up answering emails, phone calls, or setting up personal sessions, you may want to get some of that time back. We have some great tips for how you can properly manage your time as a fitness instructor.

As a fitness instructor, you like to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle, but this also includes taking care of yourself and having daily, weekly, and monthly goals set for yourself and what you would like to achieve. So one of the most important things you can do to manage your time wisely is by establishing those goals for yourself.

Make a list of all the tasks you have to do and schedule them out evenly on a calendar throughout the week or month. This will help you visualize all the things you want to achieve without overwhelming yourself each day.

Next, to get into your new routine, you must stay strict with your time and yourself. It can be easy for us to fall into habits of procrastination. But stay disciplined and focus on using your time wisely and efficiently during the times you have planned for your business. By knowing and planning what you have to do during each time window during your day will help you avoid procrastination. There are also a variety of health and self-awareness apps that can aid you in curbing your procrastination periods. Some of our favorites include Focus@Will, Focus To Do, and Rescue Time.

Limit technology. Unfortunately, it can oftentimes be very difficult to release ourselves completely from technology. Especially in a business, technology is how we connect with our communities, customers, and potential clients. However, making an active effort to avoid social media, emails, and texts when you are trying to stay focused can be very useful when managing your time. When working on high-priority tasks, you want to avoid all distractions. So switch off those phones and TVs to get things done quickly, so you can get back to doing what you love.

Prioritize your time. If you’re a fitness instructor, you are constantly active and on the move. At times, this can become very overwhelming. Taking care of yourself, others and your business can be a heavy workload. It is important to prioritize balancing your time throughout the week. Always remember to focus on what works best for you, your work schedule and personal schedule.

How Coaches Can Sell More Courses

Whether you are a business leadership coach, a motivational coach, life coach, fitness coach, or one of the many other types of coaches out there, there are people who want your expertise and skills. Take advantage of online courses as a form of selling your knowledge. As an entrepreneur, you want to share your success with others so that they can learn and succeed as well. However, you may run into dry spells where you find it difficult to continuously sell your courses. As a coach, your goal should be to consistently find new clients to share your intellect with. We have some tips for coaches on how to sell more courses.

Podcasting:

A current and popular trend right now is podcasting. Podcasts are great for driving authority in your specific niche. Whether you lead your own podcast or join an existing podcast as a guest, participating in podcasts expands your reach in clients as you are able to reach people within your niche. It may be to your benefit to reach out to podcasters in your niche and ask about being a guest.

Social Media:

There is no question that social media marketing is one of the best methods to get the word out about your coaching courses. With over 3.96 billion people actively using social media, advertising your courses through platforms such as Linked In, Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok is an effective way to gain attention and customers. Identify where your target audience is most engaged and link relevant content and promote your courses on these platforms.

Online Communities:

Another great method for raising awareness and selling your courses is through online groups, more specifically, Facebook groups. Facebook is a great platform for finding communities within your niche. You can begin by starting your own Facebook group related to your courses where you provide snippets and incite on your expertise. Here, you can engage and communicate with clients directly and share updates. An important part of these groups, however, is consistency. Make a point to be active in the group by posting a few times a day. This will make your group stand out amongst others. As you begin to build a community, make sure to take advantage of the platform to sell your courses and provide value.

Choose the proper platform for your course:

Now that you have integrated yourself into the online community of your niche, you need to focus on the course itself. Make sure to always provide high-quality videos with high-quality editing. Next, your course needs to be easily accessible to your customers. You can host your course on your own website or you can consider third-party platforms. A marketplace platform can host your courses for a fee and allow you to customize your branding. Some examples of a marketplace platform you might want to consider utilizing are Masterclass and Udemy.

The selling of your course can be time consuming. Don’t get overwhelmed. This is the perfect opportunity to allow a virtual assistant to take care of these back end tasks that will help grow your business. Delegate and hire a VA to handle your social media, schedule podcast interviews, and upload your courses to your marketing platform.

What Is a CRM & How Can It Help Your Business?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Manager. In a nutshell it is “the process of managing interactions with existing as well as past and potential customers and is one of the many different approaches that allow a company to manage and analyze its own interactions with its past, current and potential customers.”

A CRM can help a business of any size drive its growth anywhere but down. There are 4 key components of CRM work that someone like us would do for your company.

  1. Retain Customers
    a. When people buy a product or especially a service, your goal is to retain them
and keep them coming back for more. But how do you do this? By customer
interaction. People like when companies make their purchase personal and feel
like the business truly cares for their satisfaction. This is done mainly through
email or social media marketing and simply a fast reply time.
  2. Sales Increase
    a. It’s a proven fact that when you streamline your business on online platforms and
interact with your following- sales will go up.
  3. Transparency
    a. Being “transparent” with the consumers again causes people to gain trust in not
only your company but the “man behind the screen”. You can accomplish this by
replying to customer inquiries, posting your company’s mission or about us
statements, and introducing employees or the owner.
  4. Better Understand Your Consumer Audience
    a. Using a CRM can help you better understand who is looking, buying, and liking
your product or service. Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram offer very
easy to use/access user analytics. Diving into your target demographic and
learning more about the analytics behind it all can truly benefit your business.
Getting started with CRM can be a daunting task but with the right help it can be done in a timely and efficient manner.

Life By Design is capable of helping you with all things surrounding the avenue of CRM and
allows you to really focus on your passion- running the business you love.

I have a few I prefer, with my favorite right now being Hubspot, then Active Campaign with Zoho being third.

How Posture Can Help You Succeed In Your Business

In any business, posture is a big part of what stands between your success or failure. A few days ago we talked about not being emotionally attached to the outcome of whether or not the prospect says yes or no. Well, posture and not being attached to the outcome really go hand in hand. You have to master both of these to have the best chance of success in your business.

So what does it mean to have posture?

It means you are unshakable. The inability to be discouraged or swayed. It means that you have a solid belief in what you are doing and you don’t shake in your shoes and collapse when someone says something negative or someone doesn’t believe in what you are doing. You just move on. To succeed, you need to believe it regardless of what others think, and you need to stand firm on that belief.

So how do you do that?

Well first of all, it takes time. It takes dedication and consistency. It takes personal growth training and lots of it. My favorite for building posture is industry trainer, Dani Johnson. You can do a free 30 day bootcamp at smarternetworker.com that is amazing and will teach you posture and so much more.

Posture is something you learn over time through personal development, but until then, sometimes you just got to put it on like you do your pants. Before you go out there and prospect people, just make a decision that you will not break under the pressure of some idiot who calls you unqualified, or says “it will never work”, or “you don’t have enough education”. You have to posture yourself to a place of pure belief so that when you hear those things, not if, when, you will not crack, but you will stay strong in the belief of what you are doing.

Don’t let those people kill your dreams that can absolutely change your life and the life of your family. Put on some posture and don’t crack.

A professional business owner will not apologize or defend their position. Never defend. Just understand that it’s not for everyone and move on and just say thank you. Defending shows desperation. Never get into a place of arguing and convincing. It makes you look weak, and makes you look desperate.

Professionals never try to convince or defend. They simply introduce what they do, ask if the person is open to learning. If the person says no, they move on. Don’t get into a battle because you will lose. It’s not worth it.

Not allowing yourself to be affected by the outcome, being yourself, having enthusiasm and passion, and having unshakeable posture will take time to build. But it comes through practice, practice and more practice.

You won’t get it right all the time, especially at first, but you build your posture through practice and personal development training, such as the training I mentioned before at smarternetworker.com, This will get you to a professional level if you don’t quit and don’t let the negative opinions kill your belief.

Comfort zones are comfortable but you don’t get very far if you stay in them. So get outside of your comfort zone today, work on building your posture, and believe that it’s worth it and never give up. That’s how you make it in any business.

Business Mistakes We All Make and How to Stop

Isn’t it funny how we get off track just a little and it’s so hard to get back on track? The same goes with a lot of things doesn’t it? Like our health, eating right and exercising. We can be so motivated and working hard toward our goals and then life happens. And we have the hardest time getting back on track. It also happens in our businesses and other things we do.

The only way to keep that from happening is through commitment and consistency. But how do you push through a slump in your business? You know what I mean? A slump, where you just don’t want to do the work, you maybe have lost motivation, you are not being as consistent as you should be, you may be procrastinating, and you are letting distractions pull you in every direction. A slump.

I wanted to give you 3 easy things to really keep you on track or get you back on track in your business. These are things that have helped me when I have gotten off track, like these last few weeks.

  1. Daily to-do list. You need to write down your business priorities in order of importance. Putting it on paper is important. Write out your daily, weekly and monthly goals along with what you need to do each day to hit them. Whether that is to prospect 10 people a day on Facebook, or call 10 people a day, or send out daily email to your list, whatever income producing activities you need to do for your business, write them down in order of importance. This does not include scrolling Facebook or organizing your desk. Income producing activities.
  2. Set business hours. You have a home business. It should be treated the same way a traditional business is. Every professional business has business hours right? So set hours for your business and then whatever you wrote down on your priority list from number 1, do those things during those times.
  3. Personal Development. This has changed my thinking in so many ways. We are surrounded by so much negativity in life. We have to put things in our minds that change how we think and how we live. If we want to be successful and live a positive, happy life, we need to put positive in our minds. We have all heard garbage in, garbage out. What we put into our minds comes back out into our lives. So make sure you are filling your minds with positive things every day. Read or listen to some type of personal development daily.

There are many ways to manage your time effectively and to get your motivation back if you’ve lost it. But these are my go-to’s that help me. So, write down your to-do list, set your hours and listen or read personal development daily.

This will help your home business grow and you will see greater success using these steps.

Time Management Tips for Your Business

Do you have a hard time keeping a schedule for your business and don’t really manage your time well? If so, you are not alone! Last month was a bad time management month for me, and it showed in my business. So today I want to talk for just a minute about what I am doing differently in hopes that it might help someone else.

Time Management and Doing Income Producing Activities

I have been super busy trying to learn new skills, write an eBook and email course, and implement everything as I learn new marketing techniques, and my time management has been terrible because of it. And it shows.

When you do not practice good time management skills, time gets away from you. You end up wasting more time instead of doing income producing activities that grow your business. And you stall your business growth. Because you cannot be laser focused and do a great job when you are trying to do 50 different things. I was trying to do way too much instead of focusing on a couple things, which made me inconsistent and lack diligence in my business.

I was trying to learn and do too many things and it seriously hindered my success last month. If that is you too, I have good news. This is a new day and a new month to start over and do better.

So here 3 main things I am going to focus on for this new month and I think it might be helpful for you as well.

  1. Focus on talking to people about your business. That’s where the money is. Focus on people. Everything else can be extra after you’ve talked to people each day. Set a goal. My goal is to call, message, or in some way talk to 20 people a day about my business. Yours does not have to be that many or it may be more. But just set a goal of how many you are going to talk to and stay consistent.
  2. Set a schedule for the hours you will work. This is so important. All businesses need to have scheduled work hours. If not, you will either not do anything, or you will be like I was last month, feeling like I was working constantly. Set a schedule. You may not be able to stick to it completely, but set it and get as close to that schedule as possible each day. My red personality type tends to be a workaholic and I really have to reign it in sometimes and cut back or it gets out of control.
  3. An important thing to remember is that God gave you the desire to succeed. Maybe you are in a home business and you have tried multiple businesses, been in for years with no real success, or maybe you are brand new but have a strong desire to do this. Either way, God gave you that desire. You have a desire to succeed. All humans have a desire to succeed in something, but we get so bogged down with “reality” that we lose hope in those dreams, whatever they may be. I am here to tell you today that if you are in a business and have a burning desire to make it work, God placed that desire there and has a plan and purpose for that desire in you. He can use it to reach so many people. He wants to see you succeed, but you have to do the work, follow directions and walk in that calling. It took me many years to see that, but I now know God has a plan and purpose for me and for my business. He does for you too. Rise up and walk in it starting today! He will not let you fall if you keep your eyes on Him.

Who You Become On The Way To Success

Is it really true that who you become on the way to success is more important than the money you make? Actually, yes, very true. I used to think this was crazy. I just wanted to make money in business and have that time and money freedom. I thought it was silly to think me changing would change my successes.

Who you become on the way to success really is more important than the money you make. Now, you may disagree. And that’s OK because so did I.

But something I’ve come to realize and believe is that real success in life requires a mindset shift. If we truly want things to change, we have to change. And change is a choice. We can choose to complain, blame, gossip, judge and control. We can also choose to love and accept instead.

Industry trainer, and one of my business mentors over the last 9 years,  Dani Johnson says Income Follows Your Personal Growth. And for years I had heard her say that, but I was not sure if I believed it. I didn’t really work on me as much as I should have. Honestly I didn’t really want to work on me. I continued to judge, blame, gossip, try to control, and much more. And I was darn comfortable there in that place. Now, I am not saying I never do those things now, I am just saying I am a work in progress and as I change, so do my successes in life and business.

I am learning to be a better version of me. I am learning that a comfort zone is a dead zone. I am learning to love and accept others as they are and I am working on me every day. It really is life changing.  I have new goals, new dreams and new vision.

I have more hope, peace, love and joy. And it’s because I decided to take personal responsibility for where my life has been in the past and where I want it to go. Those are all choices we make.

It took me a long time to realize this. And to really start working on me. Success isn’t what you do or what you get, it’s who you become.

The late great Jim Rohn said this. “If you want to have more, you have to become more. Success is not something you pursue. What you pursue will elude you. Success is something you attract by the person you become. For things to improve, you have to improve. For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to change, you have to change. When you change, everything changes for you.”

So, my advice is to work on you. Working on me has been more rewarding than the business success. I am more confident, more compassionate, more sincere, and growing into the best version of me. I am not where I want to be yet, but I am so much closer than I was a year ago, even yesterday. I’m becoming more than what I was. So can you!

Work harder on yourself than you do your business and you will be unusually successful in all things.

To your success,

3 Rules For Success In Your Small Business

Are you stuck in your business? Do you feel like you are a hamster running on a wheel but going nowhere? I have been there so many times, feeling like I was working so hard but never seeing real progress or real success.

Finally, I figured out through a lot of personal development and mindset audios and videos and a few seminars (I’m a slow learner) that the problem was my mindset, my thinking. The problem was me. How you think about life, yourself, and your business will determine your success or failure.

Today I have 3 rules that have helped me change how I think and how I approach my business. I hope they are helpful for someone else.

3 Rules for Success in Network Marketing:

1 . Take Personal Responsibility. The truth is that whether you succeed or fail is your choice. We all know that we reap what we sow, right? What kind of seeds are you sowing in your business? When you own your failures, you have a better chance at succeeding the next time. So own it and take personal responsibility for it.

What kind of seeds are you sowing?  Is it seeds of complaining, whining when  things don’t go your way, seeds of negativity? Because that’s exactly what you will get back in return.

2. Change your speech. Are you saying things like “I’m just not good at this”, “I can’t get anyone to buy what I have to offer”, “I’m just not good at talking to people”.

These words will kill your business faster than anything. You have to change your talk. Your words are powerful. Do you know who can control your words?……..YOU!

You are the only one who can stop the negative and change it to a positive. So change how you speak. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Make sure you are speaking life into your business.

3. Don’t let doubt get in the way. This is huge. Maybe you are worried and fearful and you doubt that success in business could ever really happen for you? Those doubts, fears and worries lead to failure. Maybe you get anxious when it’s not moving fast enough, or not working out exactly how you pictured it. This leads people to quit and move on to other things. That’s why so many people in a new small business fail, because they don’t fix what’s in between their ears first. Their way of thinking.

So work on your personal growth today. I know I am and continue to every day for my business and for my life. Changing how we think by taking personal responsibility for how things are currently in our life and business, will change our business in a positive way. Change your speech, and don’t let anxiety get in the way of your success.

The Dangerous Game of Comparison in Your Business

Stop comparing yourself to other small business owners. The game of comparison is dangerous for your business. We’re all different and we’re all on our own journey.

Most small business owners will look at other successful small business owners and start comparing. As a result, your self-esteem is lowered, doubt creeps in your mind, and you start to second guess the business. It is a dead end road that leads to failure.

We are all designed to be good at different things, with different personalities. Some people are good at time management, some are not. Some are good at keeping organized. Some are not. Some are great leaders, some are better at serving. Some have developed more skill through training and others have not gotten that far yet. You cannot compare those things.

So, if you want to succeed in business, then stop comparing yourself to the others. The only person you need to compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

You don’t know how much rejection they got, how much work they did, or what struggles they had to overcome in order to reach that number.

You most likely already have enough pressure in life. Do not put this added pressure on yourself. My advice is to study the successful people, find out what they learned to become successful, find systems and strategies that can speed up the process, never give up, stay consistent and stop comparing yourself to other people.

I want to leave you today with the famous words of Dr. Suess. “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

So be yourself, work your business and stop comparing.

To your success,

Genean Roberts
